Design over Function in websites
Many websites out there look great but have horrible functionality. The designer and the owner focus more on making the site look good and put function on the back burner.
Sites for grocery stores with impossible to find flyer’s, hardware stores with no prices, theaters with no show times and more. This is happening more and more lately and the blame falls on lack of communication between the designer and the site owner.
Designers are eager to please the owner and do not press them for what they want this site to do and they simply pitch them a great looking mock-up and never go change from there. On the flip side owners sometimes do not know what they want for their site they are just eager to get online and don`t understand what they could have or actually need.
This lack of communication between designer and owner causes a poor website to be launched. In many cases a great looking site granted but what is the point of it looking well if the visitors can`t get to the info that brought them there.
When I start a website for a client I research their competition and find out what the goal of similar sites are and than pitch that to my client even if they say otherwise. I have found in many cases they simply do not know all their options and while some designers fear this may cost them the contract many appreciate it. Of course ultimately the choice is theirs but knowing all their options is always welcome.

I try so hard to explain to customers that function is most important. But ultimately if I don’t give them a huge flash intro and lots of spinning gifs and music that can’t be turned off, then they will find someone else who will.
I has bills to pay so if the customer demands it.. I will give it to them

You are 100% right some people cannot be convinced otherwise and it has happened to me as well. But for the most part I find when they want this stuff it is more out of not knowing their options than anything else. But in the end it is their choice, I have just found more listen to reason than ignore it.
I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days..

there are many seo plugins out there but the one I use is all in one seo pack but much of the work still comes down you. I offer SEO services if you were interested in discussing further.
Howdy, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything you can advise? I get so much lately it’s driving me crazy so any help is very much appreciated.
I know what you mean for every legit comment I get about 5 spam, I dont use anything special on my blog just make each comment require apporval and generally you can tell what is spam right away and just flag it, than you dont get simmilar spam in the future
